Tear Duct Support
For blocked tear ducts or eye irritation, herbal remedies can provide lubrication, soothing and healing effects. Herbs can also be used as an antiseptic or antimicrobial.
USEFUL HERBS:
* Bilberry - supports circulation to the eyes.
* Calendula - reduces inflammation and swelling, itching. Use in bacterial or viral conjunctivitis. Apply as local compress and eyewash or in an eye drop formula
* Cayenne - anti-inflammatory for irritated mucus membranes, conjunctivitis. Use in very small amounts, well diluted or in a compound eye drop formula. Initially causes redness, then pain relief. Increased blood flow to eyes. Rinse eyes well.
* Eyebright - allergies, cold ,eye strain, bloodshot, burning, itchy, sticky eye gum or yellow discharge. Use internally and as eye drops.
CONJUNCTIVITIS (Pink Eye)
Conjunctivitis is caused by a viral infection. Since this virus does not like heat, use a clean cloth, lean over the sink and use the clean cloth to apply hot water to your eyes, (the water needs to be as hot as you can stand without burning yourself). Do this as much as possible throughout the day (8 to 12 times). If the conjunctivitis is not clear within two days, check your health food store for eye drops that fight pink eye and conjunctivitis.
Take a whole food tablet of Vitamin A and at least 10,000 mg’s of Garlic for one week.
