GINGER ROOT 

(ZINGIBER OFFICINALE)



Has warming properties which help stimulate physiological functions.


CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM:

Helps with circulation

Reduces cholesterol

Helps lower blood pressure

Helps prevent internal blood clots


DIGESTIVE SYSTEM:

Used for Flatulence, Gas

Abdominal cramps

Upset stomach

Nausea

Digestion of protein and fat

Can be used with an herbal laxative to prevent intestinal cramps.


IMMUNE SYSTEM:

Increases ability to fight infections (colds, flu)

Contains Natural Anti-histamines

Offers antibiotic activity against salmonella, cholera and trichomonas.


NERVOUS SYSTEM:

Headaches - relaxes blood vessels in the head and diminishes swelling in the brain


RESPIRATORY: 

Can combine ginger with cayenne pepper for respiratory infections (try small amounts at a time as it works quickly but can be irritating for some people.

DOSAGE:

COMPRESS FOR MUSCLES: make a ginger tea (decoction), soak cloth in it and apply to sore area.


Best used as: Tea, tincture or capsules


Motion Sickness: 1,500 MG 30 minutes before travel

Tea: 2 tsp powdered or rated root per cup of boiling water, steep 10 minutes 

For inflammatory conditions: 500- 3,000 MG per day.


SAFETY:

In large amounts it tends to irritate the urogenital tract

May cause heartburn in some people - used in doses higher than 6 grams of dried powder or on an empty stomach.

Contraindicated for pregnant women with a history of miscarriage.
